At this point in the game there is no mistake that you made now that will be noticable in 6 months. It is hard to min/max while learning a game, that is why alts normally level at mach speed compared to when we do our first run through. I didn't waste as much stardust as I am sure others did, but I wasted a lot of evolutions in the early levels. There's no reason for this game to be any different. There isn't a game out there that doesn't benefit those who spend the most time playing it, and for good reason. Interest in this game will plummet drastically if all I'm doing in a month is still throwing balls at Pokemon faces, dodging, attacking, dodging, attacking, dodging, attacking, and stacking Pidgeys for XP. What's the point in taking over a gym if it just gets knocked down 10 minutes later? If you like a certain Pokemon and that's the one you want to use for battle, you should have to systematically make that Pokemon stronger until it can take down a high level gym. You hardly have to give any consideration to which Pokemon you use against your opponent. The same movement over and over with the only concern of failing is your connection to the server. Taking down a gym is now nothing more than grinding. It completely takes out the challenge and turns it into grinding. I know it's part of the game, but it's rather frustrating when that happens.Īll that being said, I have held onto one gym for about a week now, and I'm mildly annoyed at that because I want to upgrade the pokemon in it. I took 14 gyms in that time, but I think somebody was following me for part of it, because I could never keep more than 6 at a time and had to deal with a sub-optimal collection. But most nights I do really hate having to go out for an indeterminate amount of time to try to maximize the number I can reasonably hold at one time just to try to collect.įor example, the other night I drove around for about 3 hours taking over gyms that I suspected I could hold for at least an hour. I enjoy the gym time, especially standing next to a group of and banting while we going back and forth on a gym. I don't even know why people are so obsessed with holding gyms in the first place.
